New Changes on Federal Financial Aid
Saturday, January 14, 2012

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Pell Grant now requires that parents/guardians link to the IRS website to extract their income tax data to submit it on the FAFSA. Completing and filing income tax before April 15 will shorten the response time when the FAFSA is submitted.  Otherwise, the process will be delayed.

The application is found online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. To complete the application, a first step is for the senior and at least one parent or guardian to secure a personal identification number (PIN) at the website. Students will use these PIN's each year if they continue college and apply for the FAFSA each year, sometimes referred to as a "Pell Grant." Please examine the website to review directions before you actually start the process. Gather data and complete as quickly as possible after W2's are received.
