I am the Head Boy's Basketball Coach at Deshler High School. This begins my 4th year at DHS. I also teach 11th grade College Prep History and 11th grade General History. In our first year at DHS, our boys basketball team went 15-14 and were Area Runner-Up and adavnced to the Sub Regionals. In our 2nd year at DHS, we went 19-11 and were Champions of the 16 team Bracy Invitational. We were also ranked #7 in the State at one time. The first boys team from DHS to be ranked in 9 years. We also won 9 games in a row at one point. We were Area Runners-Up and advanced to the Sub Regionals. In our 3rd year, we were 16-12. We adaveced to the Sub-Regional game. We were Co-Area 16 Champions.  Prior to DHS, I coached 3 years at Gardendale High School. I was the Varsity boy's basketball assistant coach, Head JV Boy's basketball coach, and Head 9th Grade football coach. Before I got into high school coaching and teaching I spent 8 years in college coaching and athletics. I was the Assistant Men's basketball coach at the University of Montevallo for 3 years. While there we were Gulf South Conference Champions, NCAA South Region Champions and we made it to the Division II Elite Tournament in 2006-2007. I served as an assistant Men's Basketball coach at the University of North Alabama in 2005-2006. While at UNA we advanced to the NCAA tournament. I was a student manager and graduate manager at The University of Alabama from 2001-2005. In my first year at UA we were SEC Champions and we advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2002. We also made it to the NCAA Tournament in 2003. In 2004 UA made it to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament and in 2005 we were SEC Western Division Champions and we advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Before I went to UA, I attended Northwest- Shoals were I was a member of the Men's Basketball team and co-captian of the 2000 State Champions team. I was also a volunteer assistant coach at Belgreen High School in 1999-2000.  That year we were County Champions, Area Champions, Region Champions and we advanced to the Final Four. I worked there under my dad, Steve Pounders, who was the Head Coach there for 26 years.

I am married to the former Paige Black of Hackleburg. Paige is a RN at ECM Hospital. 

My wife and I are expecting our first child, a baby girl, Presley Reese Pounders sometime in August of 2015. 

My wife and I have 5 nieces. Lily, Leah, Sydney, Haley, and Ellie.

My wife and I are members of the Russellville Church of Christ.

I love sports, country music, The University of Alabama, spending time at the lake, the Atlanta Braves, traveling, and spending time with my wife and other family members.
